Deaf Sports New Zealand Awards Night – 3rd January, 6pm – Brentwood Hotel, Kilbirnie
This is the formal awards night for Deaf Sports New Zealand. This is when all the D/deaf and hard of hearing athletes are commemorated and congratulated for all their sporting achievements and efforts during 2019. This includes a sit down buffet dinner and drinks will be available for purchase.
Opening Ceremony – 4th January, ASB Stadium, Kilbirnie
This will be the official opening of the New Zealand Deaf Games 2020. Come and give a warm welcome to the teams and players participating in the Aotearoa Turi Shield! This is your opportunity to see who is in the teams, who is playing for where, and wish them the very best of luck with the tournaments.
Closing Ceremony – 8th January, ASB Stadium, Kilbirnie
The official closing ceremony of the New Zealand Deaf Games 2020. Come see the teams for the final time and congratulate them on their hard work and efforts, and say formal farewells to the teams. Any final medal ceremonies that have not taken place prior, will take place at the closing ceremony.
New Zealand Deaf Short Film Festival Awards – 8th January, 5pm to 7pm, Brentwood Hotel, Kilbirnie
Come and see who the short film competition winners are! Platters of light food will be provided at this event and the bar will be open for people to purchase drinks. People who have purchased tickets for this event will get free entry to the After Party which runs immediately after this one. Feel free to come dressed according to the theme, or come as you are!
After Party – 8th January, 7pm onwards, Brentwood Hotel, Kilbirnie
Come and wind down after the week’s festivities! This event starts immediately after the New Zealand Deaf Short Film Festival Awards. People with a ticket for After Party but not New Zealand Deaf Short Film Festival Awards will only be able to enter at 7pm. Please note that food is not provided but the bar will be open for purchase, and people will also be able to purchase food at the Brentwood. Come dressed to the theme or come as you are. This is the last event of the New Zealand Deaf Games 2020 and your opportunity to let your hair down, have some fun, catch up with old friends, make new friends and socialise!
There will be other social events held in the evenings at NZSL Hub (Toitu Poneke). These won’t be ticketed, and will likely be a gold coin donation. Information on these will be released here as we confirm detail.
